Sofia Sköld. Born in 1979, from a Swedish and American background, Sofia Sköld moved from the swedish countryside to London in 2003, where she graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She lives and works as an artist and designer in London, UK and in Österlen, Sweden.

Sofia’s creative practice lies in the combination of various disciplines including painting, design and writing. She merges art practice with concerns of life in order to explore and question the surroundings.

Keeping an open mind and all senses acute resume the artist’s philosophy and the underlying theme of her art practice as she aims to explore the relationship between humans and the natural world. Sofia’s work explores how we as humans navigate uninhabited landscapes, and respond and make memory connections to physical places.

Sofia’s abstract paintings are often created as large-scale landscapes. The paintings are made using oil paint, oil pastel, and pencil on canvas or on wood.

The work invites to conversation, reflection and reshaping of perception.
